LabF3S Support

Strategic Initiative(s) Alignment: Access to Capital, Capacity Building
Program: LABF3S
Type: Support/Coordination, Training/Workshop
Year(s): 2021

width=Lab F3S is a comprehensive technical assistance pipeline providing tools and training to build the grant writing skills of 3rd Sector non-profit organizations in order to expand their reach and accelerate their operations. This flagship project was created under the Titín Foundation’s program, SINFINESPR, with support from Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the Economic RSF. The main objectives of providing this technical assistance to the 3rd Sector are to deliver the following:

  • Integrated FULL lifecycle capacity building to Puerto Rican NGOs
  • Effective outreach and messaging through a coordinated network of partners providing one multi-level single capacity building program
  • Project continuity beyond EDA/ ERSF support and technical assistance

In Phase 1 of the program, a first cohort of non-profit organizations received hands-on coaching to reach the basic eligibility requirements to access federal and philanthropic funds, including requesting 501c3 (Federal) exemptions or the 1101 exemption of tax authorities.

In May 2021, 25 organizations from Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands were welcomed to Phase II of LabF3S. In addition to obtaining the basic eligibility requirements to access federal and philanthropic funds, this group will also receive a one year of membership to the GrantStation database and technical assistance from their staff to learn how to best utilize the resource, thanks to a collaboration with the Economic Development Administration (EDA).

SINFINESPR is a Titin Foundation project that serves as an online search tool that centralizes and organizes data and documents from thousands of entities throughout the third sector in Puerto Rico. You can access the interactive directory at http://www.sinfinespr.org.

Titín Foundation supports initiatives that increase opportunities for better education, promote access to the arts, and strengthen the non-profit sector.

The Economic Development Administration collaborates with federal and local partners on disaster recovery grant making programs to ensure efforts are synergistic and complementary and to prevent duplicative investments or projects.

The Economic RSF Coordinator and team are extremely honored to be collaborating on this project leading to economic diversification and resilience.
